Weird Week
All I can say is "TGIF"! I am tired. This week was a weird one for me: During a big newsletter run I managed to jam both photocopiers on Monday (usually I am the one that fixes jams others have created) and the technician did not come until Wednesday noon. On Wednesday afternoon someone discovered that the toner cartridge in the copier needed to be replaced. Reaching for the familiar box, all I found were empty cartridges. Immediately called the number to get supplies, had to wind my way through voice mail, had to listen to English and French advertising for Xerox before I finally found out that I could not place an order as they were closed (at 4 pm Pacific time).
Yesterday, I was able to place an order, but I could only order 2 cartridges and they could not take my order and ship more later. I have to call again next week. From another school I found out that they were also short-shipped, supposedly because of the power outage in Ontario in the summer. Interesting, what one can blame shortages on.
And then a weird thing happened with one of my Word files at home. I attached three files which were stored on my zip drive to an e-mail. The recipient told me that two files arrived in perfect order and the third had a bunch of weird letters and symbols embedded. When I went back to look at the file, I could see those symbols too. I fixed the document and sent it again. The recipient found some words missing on the screen, but when printing the document, it came out perfect.
I know, next week will be a perfectly normal, boring week, with no glitches. Except that never really happens.
