[image:565,left,5,5]On Friday night, Andy's band (the Ottawa Rube Band -- they are [former?] members of the Baden Rube Band, I think...or at the very least, Andy's dad Wayne was) played at JIJ's. Also, Jessie came up to visit from Toronto.
[image:566,right,5,5]The Hacker-Pschorr seemed even more delicious than usual -- although it was hard to get another pint with how busy the place was. Irene Ann did a great job of keeping a tally of what everyone was drinking.
So a bunch of us hung out there for about 4 hours or so, doing some clapping, some "eins, zwei, drei -- saufe!" (which most Canadians mangle into "sofa"...which sounds strange), etc. The NewRO sent a cameraman by, and Jessie helped by carrying his bag around. Yes, we did get on TV, although I don't think anyone has a record of it.
Then we hopped in a cab to go to the bus station to pick up Brenda and Marty, who were coming in from Toronto to go to a wedding. Well, Rob ordered us a pair of cabs, and we put people in the first one, then Dave and I were just about to get into the second one...only two other people had already climbed in.
[image:562,left,5,5]Which is how we met the Dude from Texas. He may have given us his name, and I remember that his friend (right) gave his name, but I don't remember what it actually was. I do seem to remember playing Ultimate against him before, which is pretty common in Ottawa.
[image:563,right,5,5]This other picture has Dave on the left and the Dude from Texas on the right. I don't know how we got into it, but since this site is back up again, I figured that Dave and I could make the phrase "Dude from Texas" have this post (with his picture) the number one result in Google inside a week or two. Hopefully Dave will post something about this too -- that should help.
So, that was the first part of Oktoberfest, which starts in September because October just isn't long enough. Next stop: Kitchener-Waterloo, St. Jakob's Market, and Alix's parents house.

First for "Dude from Texas"
... you're trailing at 15th - may be as a result of my post being on my front page?
Search for terms "dude" and "texas" doesn't bring either of us in the top 50... yet...
Craziness
I didn't want to put it on my front page, so yes, that's probably why my rankings are lower. So it's been a week? No, not even -- I posted the original on Sunday afternoon.
What phrase shall we go after next? I'd love to be able to talk about Google AdSense, but thanks to some new rules, I can't. You can go read some Russell Beattie about that: 1 2
Don't mind me... Just weaving...
... links that is... ;)

erm?
um, my arrival date is the 16->21 Oct. Is this the time frame for Kitchener-Waterloo?
just curious...
oh, and should I bring my mass?
Yes, you are golden
We leave for K-W on Friday the 17th, after work (or in your case -- play).
Mass? I looked at that sentence quite a few times, but I really, really don't know what it means. Of course, it *is* 5am and I'm finishing up a long work document, so...
mass
Large glass drinking stein that I "acquired" while at the Munich version of Oktoberfest...
Drei mass biere bitte...? or something like that...don't remember much from my language lessons at the time.
go to bed.
Only if not ceramic/glass
They only allow plastic containers at the beer garden. We have some plastic steins that we got, or perhaps a trip to the VV boutique will be in order.
"Sofa"
That "Sofa" sound is not so wrong, Boris. As I understand it the phrase goes "Eins, zwei, drei, gsuffa" (gsuffa is Bavarian dialect, I think for "gesoffen", past tense of "to drink", i.e. ... wir saufen, wir haben gesoffen ...).
