Hacking Dad

I finally got in touch with my Dad, whose birthday it was yesterday. I left a message, but he was out partying, mainly because the house is a shambles -- the roof is being replaced.

When I was back home, I had tweaked a few things on the computer, an older PowerMac running OS 9. I set up web sharing and installed a DynDNS client. Something went wonky, and it wasn't working. Luckily, I had also. So, I fired up VNCThing and was able to connect to my Dad's machine remotely and get everything sorted out. He's just keeping pictures and such there so it's easy for people to download -- horstmann.kicks-ass.org.

My Dad, born in 1937 in Berlin, Germany, turned 66 yesterday. Happy Birthday, Dad.
