I am in a strange mood this evening. It was a bit of a slow day at work finally, which meant I had a bit of time in the afternoon to get some stuff around the house done.
For starters, I'm really happy with my cordless phone again. It is a Siemens Gigaset 2415 that I bought 2+ years ago off eBay -- the only thing I have ever purchased there. I had been really annoyed with it lately because the battery kept dieing. I had been putting off figuring out what it takes, and when I finally looked, it turns out it takes regular AA rechargeables, either NiCd or NiMH. Fantastic! I have lots of those kicking around, so now it is great again. The new Siemens products are around $200, but look fancier and have lots of great features on the handsets.
I cleaned up the kitchen and did dishes. My office/the computer room is still a mess. A giant mess. I kind of had to rip everything apart because I needed to borrow some gear (like my router) for a customer. So, the Mac is direct-attached over PPPoE...turns out that wasn't hard.
Then I wandered around and took pictures of things I like. Yeah, only one is uploaded, due to the temporary connection business where I don't have local access to the server.
I talked to a bunch of people, like my parents and Shayne, for a really long time (the cordless phone came in handy). I tried to call Greg, but the message informed me that he hasn't set up voice mail yet...after how many months?!
Oh yeah -- if you want to come to New Zealand in February 2004, check out the NZ Party 2004 blog.
Lastly, I even managed to put together some poems I had kicking around, especially retrieving them from the clutches of Poetry.com.
I should probably post something interesting to the front page again some time soon...

Cleaning up the Mess
Good for you for attacking your mess. It seems you found some stuff while cleaning up. You should see our mess, Boris. It is getting worse every day, what with the continuing construction and the end of the school year with no time in my head to deal with orderliness at home. I brought cardboard boxes up from the basement to finally pack up the books from the shelves in the living room before they get totally covered in construction dust. The boxes are still sitting in front of the shelves and I am sitting at the computer - procrastination. But, I managed to go swimming yesterday and today which made me feel good. Soon a rainy day will come and I will get to the chores in the house, maybe not until the construction is done and school is over. In the meantime, we try to live through it and escape to the garden and the pond often! Today dad put some tadpoles in (bought ones). Let's see if they survive. I am trying to do nightly slug patrols in the garden. When it's light so late we can still see them without a flashlight at 10 at night.
Today Pat Grohne came by to offer us the use of their car for four days while they are gone. That was a nice gesture. We will make use of it, maybe even go for a swim to Bowen Bay on the weekend, another excuse to escape the mess at home!

I'm deleting my vmail feature. Lately I haven't even kept my phone charged up.
Email me & I'll call back. Or just call the office.
