After a couple of aborted attempts at keeping track of recipes in my blog (well, I did have some good ones in its previous incarnation, using pMachine), I found a good, stand-alone web app that handles recipes well.
It's called phprecipebook and requires PHP (surprise!) and your choice of database (postgresql and mysql are currently supported).
You can check out my installation at recipes.bmannconsulting.com. Not much there right now. By the way, if you see the source as "Dr. Bernstein", it's from a special diet that Kate is on. My cooking usually has more olive oil :)
P.S. Not all of my recipes are rushing online. I got a great homemade recipe book (with my picture on the front, no less) that sits in our kitchen for me to scribble in...at least until we get a computer in there.

It's quite nice
Images would be good.
I'd like a tool for something like a cooking/video club along the "dinner & a movie" line. A place to collect recipes & video libraries & party memories among a bunch of buddies.
Does images
It does images, I just don't have any uploaded. Well, actually, I tried to upload one when I was fiddling, but it didn't seem to work correctly. I'll fiddle some more and it'll work at some point.
Recipes, Movies, Memories: pick any two :) Drupal could probably do all three. Someone actually implemented Gallery as a module, which is cool, plus there is a recipe module available. I tried it, but it seemed a bit flakey. Movies could also be reviewed, especially with a custom taxonomy (the selection box of tags that you can associate with postings).
But seriously, Greg -- start with a blog, go from there. MT, Drupal, or pMachine would all be good choices, with pMachine being the simplest (no editing of comments, for one -- blech!).
Dr. Bernstein
Let me tell you of my experience with him. I was on and off his diet for two years and struggled as most people with a weight problem do. Recently he has refused to treat me, which of course is his prerogative, but he is also refusing to refund the money I had pre paid in advance for his services. What am I to do?
