Creating .zip files in the Finder
Right-click on a selection in the Finder, and select "Create Archive..." to create a zip file containing the selection.

I was also bored by first opening Stuff-It, choosing the folder and then zip it.
I fond another shortcut.
I made an alias of DropStuff and dragged it in the dock. So if I have a file or folder I want to zip I drag and drop it on the icon in the dock.
