You've got Desktops!

Unix GUIs have long had "virtual desktops", where you can switch between multiple screens on one monitor. I've used this, but never found it that useful, mainly because you've just got a bunch of different Terminal windows open, not full-blown graphical apps.

Codetek makes a product for the Mac that is simple and actually usable/useful: Codetek Virtual Desktop.

Basically, you can easily drag the windows of an application off one side of the screen or the other, and they pop into the other desktop. I keep a bunch of browser windows and my IM app open in one desktop, and whatever I'm working on in the other.

excellent

2 with no nagware. Hot dang! Where do I sign up...err.

I have previously tried space and it was so, so.

how bout now?

Are you still using it? Does it uninstall without leaving residue? What about the competition? The true test...have you purchased it?

Still using it

Haven't uninstalled it, so can't help you there, but it is a standard Mac app -- nothing funky hidden in corners, just delete the app to uninstall. I have it set to launch automatically on startup, so it's pretty much always running.

Haven't really looking around for/at competition -- just did a search, and Space looks to be the only other one I can find.

No I haven't purchased -- two desktops are free, with no nagware, and that's what I'm happy with. I don't have enough RAM to feasibly have enough windows open that I need more than 2 desktops. Even if I had more RAM, don't know if I'd use more.
