DWeb Camp 2026

The first global DWeb Camp held outside of California. DWeb HQ has partnered with the DoD to put it on.

I’ll be attending. I’m getting a ride with David Luecke and traveling with Jacob Sayles, lots of people I’m looking forward to seeing!

I did get roped into moderating a talk, so come by and see me with Daniel & Christine Decentralization Trade Offs in AT Protocol and ActivityPub

If you’re atproto inclined, here’s an RSVP. And join us at the Atproto Stammtisch

People

I’m on the website as a presenter on the People page, but the info for me is from DWeb Camp 2024. There are lots of awesome people coming, I’m looking forward to meeting folks, and I recognize at least one face: hi Arushi!

I’m not actually giving a scheduled presentation, but I am moderating the Decentralization Trade Offs in AT Protocol and ActivityPub panel, and I did fill out a few things in the speaker profile section that was meant to focus on my experience around decentralized systems:

Boris is a technologist and community builder. He currently splits his time between Ink & Switch‘s local-first & malleable software focus, and supporting the growth of open social ecosystems. Boris founded the AT Community Fund and ran the last two Atmosphere Conferences, as well as helping found CoSocial, a co-op for open social for Canadians.

He lives in Vancouver, Canada, where he is part of several groups including a creative coworking studio Z-Space and DWebYVR. You can find out more on his website bmannconsulting.com

Organizational affiliation should be listed as Ink & Switch / AT Community Fund.

Image is fine, could swap it for my current bsky avatar

My Now page is probably more immediately relevant of a current quarter snapshot.

Longer term

  • I am doing research into what a New OS would look like
  • The Local AI cluster project ZAI is kicking into gear: community run AI hardware, supporting community apps, especially community-owned knowledge bases. This is in many ways the realization of Community Search Engine writing from 2 years ago.
