Features

Some of the features we have in mind for VisualStreet.net:

  • Neighbourhoods

    Places are categorized by neighbourhoods (which are organized under Country --> Province --> City). Neighbourhoods have their own RSS feeds. Blog entries by members can be self-categorized to be included in a neighbourhood. Might also include comments from places that are in a neighbourhood.

  • RSS Feeds

    Every place has an RSS feed of its comments.

  • Member blogs and galleries

    Creating a member account gives you the ability to add/edit places, as well as have your own blog and photo gallery.

  • Type of Place

    Places are categorized using Drupal taxonomy: Food --> Grocery, Health Food, Restaurant --> Sushi, Tex-Mex, Retail --> Shoe Store, Dry Cleaner, etc.

  • Cross-city suggestions

    A mechanism for connecting similar places in different cities. Much like a recommendation engine, it would work something like this: "If you like the Eatery in Vancouver, you might also like the Manx in Ottawa". To my knowledge, there are currently no cross-city recommendations.
