Gel.Chat

An atproto native agentic chat interface by the SharedComputer.Network team.

(Stashing this here, will end up on site and/or blog post)

Agentic chat interfaces are quickly becoming a common interface as the starting point for research and search. People love natural language input and context, and free interfaces pioneered by the ChatGPT interface paradigm of “chat to search” now has somewhere between 0.5 to 1B users.

Part of the expected experience is web search, which is provided by a web search endpoint that obviously varies somewhat from product to product, but is converging on what is needed: an endpoint and instructions for the agent on how to use web search.

At SharedComputer.Network, we’re building a community scale AI and local AI stack. We started with OpenWebUI as our integrated chat product, and then cycled through testing a number of other open source chat front ends.

Ultimately, we didn’t find any of them very usable or extensible, and honestly, the design was mid. We’re building Gel.Chat as an atproto native agentic chat interfaces that supports the upcoming atproto private data, as well as local first browser sync.
